Founded in 1860, St. James the Greater parish has served as a neighborhood anchor, community gathering space, and spiritual home for more than 160 years. Today, we live as a Catholic community of missionary disciples, working to
St. James the Greater and the nearby parish of Epiphany of Our Lord have always shared a special connection. St James was founded as a mission of St. Malachy's Parish near downtown St. Louis. In the early 1900s, the pastoral administrator of St. James, Father Joseph F. English, helped plant the parish of Epiphany of Our Lord nearby.
